Vulva Museum

An exhibit from the Vulva Museum.
The Vulva Museum is a collection of vulva-related art and ancient artefacts which is currently touring around the US. Along with the exhibition of interesting vulva-related items comes a special presentation: “The Politics of Vulvic Symbology.”

The site itself has some interesting titbits (or should that be cuntbits?) of information.

I found out that a Sheela-Na-Gig is an ancient image of a woman pulling her vulva wide open. The symbol often appeared on churches until the Puritans removed them. The Sheela-Na-Gig was thought to be a symbol of protection or fertility.
